People are increasingly choosing massage to support their health and well-being.

Massage therapy is a proven effective treatment for:

  • reducing stress levels
  • recovering from injury
  • improving performance
  • managing pain
  • general well-being

Scientific research is increasingly supporting the benefits of massage and, personally, I see the positive effects massage has on clients.

So whether you're in need for some rejuvenating relaxation or help with a particular issue, why not try massage?

Book an appointment and find out for yourself.

Lots of people ask me this and it’s a difficult question to answer as every person is different.

To manage stress, chronic pain, or support training, a weekly or fortnightly massage might work for you.

If you have a particular issue or injury, you may make better progress if you have several appointments close together.

If you’re looking to massage for a treat or to give you a well-being boost, you may wish to leave it longer, or wait until your birthday!

My general feeling is that everyone would feel and function a bit better if they had a monthly massage – so why not try that and adapt it for you?

Don't worry, just book in when you want to!

Getting a regular massage can offer more benefits but it's also nice as an occasional treat or a useful go-to if you need a recovery boost from training or pain.

It is up to you to choose when and how often you book appointments.

If you want to see progress with a particular issue or injury, you may get better results if you have several treatments close together or establish a routine.

If you book weekly, monthly, 6 times a year, once a year or only come when you feel a bit 'broken', I’ll welcome you in and do the best I can for you.

If it’s your first appointment, there will be a consultation to ensure I give you the best treatment I can. This may take 5mins (for a repeat client giving an update) to 20mins (for a new client having a full remedial assessment). The consultation/assessment is a valuable part of the appointment to tailor an effective, safe treatment. It’s also your opportunity to ask any questions, raise any issues, and to choose things like your oils & music if these are important to you. There is also an option of an online consultation before your in-person appointment so we can freely discuss/assess and tailor your appointment to make the most of your in-person time.

For the massage, you will be asked to remove some of your clothing.  I will leave the room for a short time to allow you to do this, unless you need some help. Either way, you always will be covered to keep you warm and preserve your modesty; I will only uncover the part of the body I’m about to work on.  For a remedial appointment, the assessment may involve you standing or moving whilst being observed, so you may wish to bring shorts and a vest/t-shirt.

I offer appointments Monday to Saturday at Silver Tree Studio, off Peebles High Street, EH45 8AG. You can book online here or get in touch.

I also do a monthly Sunday at Lavender in Edinburgh EH12 For booking tool and dates click here

There is 1 small step in Lavender and lots up to Silver Tree Studio.

If you would like help up the stairs, please just ask. Treatment can be adapted to an ergonomic massage chair and I also offer online consultations and guided self-treatment sessions. If accessibility is an issue or you're looking for massage for more than 1 person, we may be able to arrange a home/site visit, please get in touch if you wish to discuss any requirements.

It's up to you how you mix different therapies and therapists to get the best results for you. If you're receiving treatment for a specific issue, it’s a good idea to let each Therapist know so we can tailor what we do appropriately.

If you're seeing your doctor regularly, I may ask you to check with them that they're happy for you to have massage alongside their treatment.

In cases where you have a structured treatment plan from (e.g.) a physiotherapist or chiropractor, it may be helpful for the Therapists to communicate about your treatment to ensure our plans support each other.  Massage works well in conjunction with other therapies and can help improve outcomes for clients. As client notes are confidential, we would need your written permission before we could share any information about you or your treatment.

If you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, that's not a problem, just get in touch.

I understand work/life/etc can change and I respect your time. In return, please respect mine and give me as much notice as possible.  This also allows me to offer the appointment to other clients. If you cancel at short notice, it's unlikely the appointment will be taken and it generally creates bad karma.

If you cancel less than 24hrs before an appointment (48hrs at Lavender) or just no-show, please understand that you will be asked to pay a £10 (£20 Lavender) fee to cover costs.

You are no longer required to wear a face covering for your treatment, however, you can if it would like to.

Although restrictions have eased significantly, I retain some 'best practice' around cleaning, ventilation and verbal screening. I will wear a mask for your treatment and regularly self-test.

If you have any questions or additional requirements to help you feel safer during your appointment, please do ask.
